We recently upgraded the Moodle installations for Oakridge Online and Manchester Adult Education Services Online Learning Platform. These upgrades were essential to address known security issues.

Manchester Adult Education Services at Manchester City Council wanted to migrate their Moodle learning platform from their old America-based data centre and hosting service and bring it back home to the UK. MAES approached Loquela because of our many years of experience of hosting and working with the Moodle VLE.

Having migrated the entire site from the servers in the US to our own Nottingham-based data centre, we continue to host the service on behalf of Manchester City Council and provide ongoing support.

Hugh Baird College 360 degree feedback

This 360 degree feedback was based obn the same application developed for the AstraZeneca project. However, this time the questionnaire and reporting functions were significantly modified to create the output in the specific format required by the college.

In October 2009 we developed a Moodle-based 360 degree feedback assessment tool. This was activity was part of the AstraZeneca in-house development programme Acting Decisively and was distributed to more than a hundred AstraZeneca workers in Sweden and the UK.

The fact that the 360 degree feedback application was online and worked seamlessly within Moodle made it extremely easy and cost effective to manage.

SUPERGEN PV21 Joomla Development

PV21 is a project which forms part of the SUPERGEN (Sustainable Power Generation and Supply) initiative, a programme of research at UK universities funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

This Joomla-based website project was commissioned by the Physics Department of Durham University in partnership with SUPERGEN (Centre for Solar Energy Research) at Glyndwr University. Loquela Associates was commissioned to convert the visual designs of the website into a Joomla Content Management System that is used primarily for managing and publishing research documents for the project.

People’s Voice Media

Loquela Associates Managing Director, Simon Clegg, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors at People’s Voice Media, a Manchester-based not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting Social Inclusion through ICT.
Simon’s role on the Board is to advise on online strategy and the application of New Media to Social Inclusion and Education.

Oakridge 360 degree feedback tool

We recently completed a major development project on behalf of Oakridge Online for one of their largest pharmaceutical clients. With an international team of consultants Oakridge will soon be delivering a blended training programme to a large number of deligates from the US, Sweden and UK with plans to pick up in Bangalore, Asia Pacific and Moscow.

Oakridge Online is based on the increasingly popular Course Management System or Virtual Learning Environment Moodle. The new 360 degree assessment tool integrates seamlessly with Moodle but if needed can be implemented as an entirely stand-alone application. Oakridge will be developing questions for the 360 degree feedback to support their Decision Making programme. The Feedback application however is being designed as a generic 360 degree feedback tool using the rating-scale question type typical of the 360 degree assessment model, so Oakridge Training and Consulting will be able to develop unique 360 degree assessments for all their future online programmes.

CSER Joomla project

The Centre for Solar Energy Research is working on a Feasibility Study sponsored by the Welsh Assembly Government and hosted by Glyndŵr Universit y. Loquela was commissioned to develop a Joomla! theme based on designs by Aristone Studio.

Loquela also manages the domain name cser.org.uk and provide Joomla! support and training.

Oakridge Training and Consulting

The Oakridge Centre is a prestigious management training consultancy based in Cheshire. As their business expanded Oakridge approached us to develop an online Training Management System based on the world’s most popular VLE, Moodle, to help them deliver their promise of high-quality blended learning solutions to their valued clients which include AstraZeneka, Molnlyke and Denbighshire County Council.

We set up the Moodle-based Oakridge Online Training Management system in 2006 and have been responsible for its maintanence, upgrades and development since. Oakridge have some very specific requirements and although Moodle an excellent training management tool out of the box, Loquela has been asked to developed a number of bespoke applications for the system including a fully automated 360 degree feedback tool that has so been used internationally by AstraZeneca for their Acting Decisively development programme and by Hugh Baired college for their Excentric Leadership programme.
